He Draws Near to the Broken Hearted

In the midst of tragedy and despair those around you may feel a sense of helplessness. No matter what they say or what they do would ever fill the enormous void we may be feeling from such a huge loss. At times I didn’t want to talk or see anyone, I just wanted my husband. In those moments of quiet and pain I always felt the Lord close and present. He hugged me when I needed a hug, He spoke to my heart when I needed a word of encouragement for myself, He gave me a peace that only He understands and He held my hand while walking through the deepest, darkest valley. In Psalms 34:18 it says “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” I was broken and I was crushed but God never failed at performing His word. 

When the world moves on and you feel like you have no one to talk to, pause. Let the Lord know how you’re feeling. He already knows your thoughts, He’s just waiting for you to tell Him so He can show you He hears you. No one or nothing can fill the void like Jesus and when He fills it, you will never feel empty again.
